Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority recorded a daily average above 525,000 travellers across the Woodlands and Tuas land checkpoints during the June 2025 school holidays — about 10% up on 2024 — and a single-day record of more than 578,000 crossings on 20 June 2025. This is the official measure of the cross-border flow that every Johor Bahru hospitality thesis draws on, and it is growing before the RTS Link even opens.

RTS Link Passenger Service Starts 1 January 2027 — and Johor's Investment Case Starts With It

Free Malaysia Today reports the Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS Link begins passenger service on 1 January 2027, with 100 e-gate lanes at the Bukit Chagar CIQ, an expected 30–40% share of Causeway crossings, and a roughly 15-minute end-to-end journey including immigration. Economists quoted put potential productivity savings around RM500 million a year. For JB hospitality, the countdown is now measured in months.
